Sep. 09/ Jellyfish help to raise over £10,500

Jellyfish were pleased to partner Venturehaus http://www.venturehaus.co.uk as one of their media sponsors for the Help the Heroes Charity Fundraiser. The event was held last Thursday (17th September) at in New Bond Street, London.

Help for Heroes

“Robin Davis and his team at Venturehaus did an amazing job organising an evening which was very well supported. We were given a candid account by Major Phil Packer who was injured by a rocket attack in Basra Iraq. He suffered severe spinal injuries and was told he would never walk again. His immense courage and determination to not only get better but get back to as normal a life as possible, was very humbling…and put many of my day to day problems in perspective.”

Regardless of your views on the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, I encourage everyone to watch a new BBC documentary, 'Wounded', which follows two soldiers injured on operations in Afghanistan from the moment they landed at Birmingham, and through their treatment and rehabilitation at Selly Oak and Headley Court. This will give you an insight into the tragedy of this conflict for the ever-growing list of wounded soldiers, many only in their teens.

I was delighted to hear that the evening raised over £10,500 and even more pleased to see the two auction items we donated contributing £3,500 towards this. I would like to thank Steve Hayes, the owner of Wasps Rugby Football Club for organising the donation of a signed jersey of the 2009 Wasps squad. I know Steve will be delighted with the money it raised. Wasps currently are partnering the Dallaglio Foundation who are raising money for a number of benefactors including Help for Heroes.

Sep. 09/ Lawrence Dallaglio launches the Foundation

Jellyfish are pleased to announce the launch of the Foundation website http://www.dallagliofoundation.com  Set up by World Cup winning England and Wasps legend Lawrence Dallaglio OBE, the Foundation has a simple purpose, perfectly outlined by Lawrence himself;

“The Foundation needs to make a difference. That means three things to me. It means making a difference to the total charity bottom line, not just redirecting money. It means making a difference to people like you who join us. And it means making a genuine difference to the people we want to help.

Lawrence believes that something worthwhile should leave you feeling good and wanting more. This is certainly the feeling my team has got from designing and building the Foundation website.

“Its so easy to see how much this means to Lawrence, which added its own pressure to the project. With any new brand, it’s vital to deliver in terms of both functionality and brand communication. How users are channelled and navigate around your site, find information and then interact says as much about your brand and its added value as the sites look and feel. The entire market adoption process is critical and often over-looked by what I called simple brochure ware sites.

Having scoped the project in detail we decided on a two phased approach…phase one where we are now with phase two which will include online payment processing for donation and standing orders; a dedicated PR area where the media can get access to press releases and a bespoke web 2.0 area where companies can register and create challenges through inter company social networking. There are many more!

Having such a hands on client made a real difference. It gave us a unique insight into Lawrence as an individual. I know that my team worked above and beyond to deliver on this project…and willingly. You can’t but help being caught up in Lawrence’s passion, drive and motivation for this project.

To quote Lawrence’s own words, “I firmly believe that doing something worthwhile should leave you feeling good and wanting more”…and it certainly did. I wish Lawrence, the Foundation and all the beneficiating charities the very best.

Sep. 09/ On your bike Ian

Our work with Lawrence Dallaglio and the Foundation has had a profound effect on our MD Ian Hunter. As an ex England, British Lion and Northampton Saints rugby player, Ian is no stranger to working out, but we think he may of bitten off more than he can chew. Ian has agreed to join Lawrence on one of his events – The 6 Nations cycle ride. The entire event will see the riders cycle from Rome to Paris, then on to Twickenham, before departing to Cardiff, Dublin, finally arriving in Edinburgh 28 days later…I’m tired just writing this.

Ian has yet to decide which leg or legs of the event he will do (it certainly won’t be all of it…he’ll leave that to Lawrence), however any stage is a challenge on its own, with most being over 500k.

Ian is hoping to raise over £3000 for the Foundation and Cancer Research UK. If you are interested in sponsoring Ian, e-mail him at: ian@jellyfishcreative.co.uk An online donation link will be coming very soon.

May. 09/ Passport to Profit – Spring DM Campaign

Jellyfish were delighted to work with long-term clients Hallgarten Druitt this Spring on a new Direct Mail campaign for their sales team.

The promotion-based campaign was designed to encourage clients to bulk-buy specific wines to benefit from discounted prices. The added incentive was that if the client took up several of the offers they would not only receive a free gift but would be entered into a draw to win a holiday of a lifetime, to a wine producing region of their choice.

A ‘holiday’ theme was therefore carried through into the creative, with all the offers listed in a booklet designed to look like a ‘passport’. The order form and supporting information were presented on a ‘ticket’ which was held in a ticket holder.

As an illustrative route was chosen, the result was a bright and bold creative look, which the client was thrilled with. The format was also carefully considered to make sure it was easy for the sales reps to communicate with their clients and equally for the clients to place their orders!

Feedback from Hallgarten Druitt’s sales reps has been excellent, and the campaign is proving a great success. In fact it has been so well received that we have also just completed the production of a number of exhibition graphics using the same creative.

May. 09/ A Busy Month for Website Launches!

Jellyfish are pleased to announce the launch of new websites for three clients in April.

Whitco, who design and install commercial kitchens and cookware, now have a stylish new site featuring black and white flash imagery, a range of case studies of recent projects, and a page with links to their partner companies. The site can be viewed at www.whitcoltd.com

The redesigned site for Central Auto Supplies (CAS) has a colourful motor-influenced design, with quick links to key services and information. The site also has Flash, a site search engine and a client area. We are pleased to be currently developing an e-commerce site for the company as an extension of the brochureware site. Take a look at www.central-auto.co.uk

Local restaurant chain, ‘Buddies’ are now the proud owners of a completely re-vamped website. The look of the site is in keeping with the diners – retro American themed – and has a fun and funky feel. The site has separate micro-sites for each of the different restaurants in the chain. Features include a photo gallery, menu downloads, a printable colouring sheet for kids and an online recruitment area. To see more go to www.buddiesrestaurants.com

Dec. 08/ Jellyfish go ‘green’ with new client Earthworm

Earthworm have developed a new, unique and community-friendly method of ‘composting’. The company will take garden and food waste from local councils and businesses in the hope that their way of processing it will become a preferred alternative to landfill, thus addressing a growing environmental problem.

As a new company, Earthworm first required a brand identity. The chosen logo incorporates an icon with the letters ‘E’ and ‘W’ depicted as a ‘worm’ and is coloured in a vibrant green.

We are now just about to launch the company’s website to promote the venture and inform the local community about the project whilst the company completes its planning stage. The design uses simple line drawings and horizontal stripes representing strata of earth in shades of brown to support the brand-look.

Jellyfish are also working with Earthworm’s sister company ‘Burnham Landscapes’ to design a new website for their landscape gardening and ground maintenance business.

Dec. 08/ Direct Mail Success for Informance

We created an unusual and stand out printed direct mail piece using illustrations and an ‘I love Qlikview’ story. The mailer was sent to a range of carefully-targeted business owners across the UK.

We also conducted follow up calls to speak directly to the targets to stimulate further interest and book ‘demo’ sessions. So far the campaign has been highly successful with several meetings booked and a number of very warm leads generated.

Based on the results of the initial one month trial, we expect to continue the campaign until at least April next year.

Barry Talbot, MD of Informance, commented:
“The design of the mailer is really quirky and from feedback we’ve had from the follow up calls it’s also been memorable. Speaking to the targets directly as well as sending the mailer has been a very effective strategy in securing demos. Two to three sales a month would be a brilliant result and would be more than a worthwhile return on our investment.”

Dec. 08/ Beat the credit-crunch and update your website

Over the Autumn, we have been developing sites with Standley & Co Solicitors, Burnham Landscapes and Earthworm, Matthew Arnold & Baldwin, KAB Seating, American Diners, Zinc and Argent Insurance and Equity Release Finance. We have also updated a number of our current clients’ sites with additional functionality.

Such is the demand that we are expanding our development team to take on a new junior developer who is set to join us in the New Year.

Ian Hunter, Managing Director, advises:
“When budgets are tight, updating your website can be a cost effective way of boosting your marketing activity. Opting for a ‘face-lift’ to refresh the look of the site, adding new functionality such as RSS feeds, blogs or forums, or undertaking SEO activity to help boost your Google ratings are all relatively inexpensive updates that can have significant returns through generating new customers”.

Dec. 08/ Farewell to Christian

Jellyfish are sad to have said farewell to Designer, Christian, in November who is moving to Denmark with his wife Anja and baby Oliver. We wish him the best of luck in his new, idyllic Scandinavian life!

Christian has been an integral part of the design team and he will be sorely missed by everyone.

Sep. 08/ Jellyfish goes ‘All Out’ for Cricket Logistics

To reflect Cricket Logistics’ prestigious and exciting appointment as the Official Tour Operator (OTO) for the ICC they decided to complete a website re-design. Jellyfish were thrilled to be awarded this job. (Cricket Logistics are a subsidiary of Gullivers Sports Travel).

The new site, due to be launched in May, is fun and quirky and will be fully content manageable. The imagery communicates a mix of the company’s two key messages - international travel and cricket – through an innovative Flash banner in the style of a ‘big screen’ often seen at sporting events. The tournaments are listed on a ‘scoreboard’ which visitors can browse.

Suzy Hillier, Marketing Manager, says: “The brief for this project was quite challenging as there were restrictions on how we could use the cricket imagery. This was not an issue though as Jellyfish adapted the design within the limitations and it still looks fantastic!”

Aug. 08/ Fine Design for Wine

Jellyfish are delighted to reveal the new brand that has been designed for Hallgarten Druitt, the leading importers of fine wines from around the world. The new brand draws on the initials of the company ‘h’ and ‘d’ to create a bold art deco inspired logo with the letters cleverly forming the shapes of both a wine glass and wine bottles.

Having developed the brand we then designed and produced the 2008 wine list catalogue along with brand and product advertising. We also created a sales presentation and wine bottle-neck tags for the brand launch. Currently we are developing the company a new website (including integrated database), stationery and bottle labels for the ‘Sollazzo’ wine brand.

Jim Wilson, Agency & Marketing Director, comments: ‘We are so impressed with our new brand and, having unveiled it to staff, suppliers and clients, are really pleased with the positive feedback. It’s a very memorable design which fits exactly with the direction Hallgarten Druitt is taking. We look forward to continuing to work with Jellyfish on our current projects”.
